Student Spotlight March – Andrea
Andrea was nominated for Student Spotlight by her best friend who said “Andrea is always enthusiastic and constantly helps me with any moves that I struggle with. Her journey in pole encouraged and inspired me then her sister and our other friend. It is because of Andrea that all four of us come week in week out.”
Why did you decide to start pole/aerial?
I was in the navy and had to keep fit but hated the gym, so I googled fun fitness classes and pole fitness was at the top of the list. So I thought why the heck not, what have I got to lose, so I went and had an absolute blast. Then when I came back to Darlington I found Tempest Dance and Fitness and couldn’t wait to go again.
Did you do any other dancing/fitness before starting pole/aerial?
Nope I have no dancing skills what so ever!!!
How long have you been taking part in classes at Tempest?
I’ve been at Tempest for just over a year.
What has kept you interested in pole/aerial?
I love being able to accomplish new moves and just being able to laugh with friends during classes keeps me going back.
What is your biggest Pole/Aerial achievement?
Performing a Pinocchio pole routine for the Winter Showcase at Sherburn Village Community Centre is my biggest pole achievement to date.
What do you like best about Tempest Studio?
The thing I like best is that it doesn’t matter if you are good at a pole move or not because all of the teachers and the students encourage you to keep trying!
What is your favourite move?
At the moment Butterfly is my favourite move.
What is your nemesis move?
My nemesis move is a ball seat.
What advice would you give to new students?
My advice is to just give everything a try!! You will have good pole days and bad pole days but don’t ever give up just because you didn’t get it the first time.
How have you changed since joining #TeamTempest?
I would say I have definitely become more outgoing since joining #teamtempest We genuinely have the BEST time in Pole on a Monday night.
